Bread – Bible Memory (“Bread,” “the app,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the Bread – Bible Memory mobile app and related services.
1. Information We Collect
Bread may collect the following types of information:
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, authentication information, username, and the profile information you choose to provide.
App Activity and Bible Memory Progress
When you sign in and use cloud sync, we store saved verses and passages, Bible memory progress, practice history, preferences, streaks, crumbs, achievements, highlights, notes, and related in-app progress.
Voice Recordings
If you choose to record yourself reading Scripture, Bread accesses your microphone with your permission. Your recordings are stored on your device and may be backed up to your Bread account through cloud sync.
Social and Friend Features
If you use social features such as friends, Bakeries, Bake-Offs, or leaderboards, we store information related to those interactions, including friend connections, bakery membership, invitations, shared activity, and challenge progress. Your username and selected progress information may be visible to other Bread users. Your private notes, highlights, email address, and voice recordings are not part of your public profile.
Device and Usage Information
Our service providers may process basic technical and operational information, such as IP address, device or browser information, request logs, and error information, to provide, secure, and troubleshoot Bread. Bread does not use third-party advertising trackers.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Bread may schedule reminders on your device. You can control notification permissions through your device settings.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Bread does not intentionally collect:
- Precise location data
- Financial or payment information
- Government identification numbers
- Health or medical information
- Contacts from your device
- Photos or camera data
3. How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Create and manage user accounts
- Save Bible memory progress and app preferences
- Provide features such as verses, passages, friends, bakeries, and shared activities
- Back up and sync notes, highlights, recordings, and progress across signed-in devices
- Maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the service
- Communicate important app-related updates
- Protect the security and integrity of the app
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share limited information with trusted service providers that help us operate the app, such as hosting, authentication, database storage, and Scripture-content delivery. These providers may only process information as needed to provide their services to us.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, to prevent fraud or abuse, or to protect the safety of users and the app.
5. Third-Party Services
Bread uses third-party services to operate core functionality, including Supabase for authentication, database storage, cloud functions, and file storage. Bread also contacts Scripture-content providers to retrieve Bible passages requested in the app. Apple distributes the iOS app through the App Store.
These providers may process data under their own privacy and security practices. Bread does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user information. This may include secure authentication, access controls, encryption in transit, and limiting access to personal information to only those who need it to operate or support the app.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain user information for as long as necessary to provide the app, maintain user accounts, support app features, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
If you delete your account or request deletion, we will delete or anonymize personal information associated with your account unless we need to retain certain information for legitimate reasons such as security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or backup recovery.

You may also request that we delete personal information associated with your account. After receiving a deletion request, we will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize the information associated with your account, subject to any legal, security, or operational retention needs.
9. Children's Privacy
Bread’s App Store age rating describes the suitability of its content; it does not remove privacy protections for children. Bread is not directed to children under 13. A child under 13 should use Bread only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian and should not create an account without that consent.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate parental consent. If we learn that we have done so, we will take steps to delete that information.

10. Your Choices
You may be able to:
- Update account information in the app
- Adjust notification permissions through your device settings
